Counsellor
Natajsa is a Clinical Psychotherapist in private practice and delivers training for Blue Knot Foundation and other stakeholders. Natajsa has a background working within leadership roles in community organizations as well as businesses in the private sector.Natajsa has over 7 years' experience working in her private practice with individuals, couples and groups. She has also spent the first 15 years of her career working in senior leadership roles mentoring individuals and developing high-performance teams.

Natajsa is passionate about trauma-informed care and practice and is an advocate for its implementation across all sectors. She specialises in complex trauma and attachment challenges. Natajsa works from an Ecological perspective looking at both the individual experience as well as the role different systems involved, including professional, family and internal systems. This informs her supervision work as she works collaboratively starting from a place of partnership: moving away from an 'expert model' of thinking and letting go of the idea that a therapist ""holds"" all the power for change. She holds the belief that each person is a source of their own power and that with support people are also capable of growth and transformation.

Natajsa provides supervision and consultancy services to a range of businesses, media and services, both in Australia and internationally. In her private practice work she works with individuals, couples and facilitates process-orientated groups. Natajsa delivers corporate employee wellbeing programs and enjoys supporting training therapists.

Natajsa's approach recognises the wisdom inherent in all human beings. It focuses on the whole person and the experiences that have shaped and influenced them. It celebrates a person's will and their ability to adapt and survive a lifetime of challenges. She is passionate about seeing people as more than their ""pathology"" and advocates for clinicians look beyond a person's challenges or symptoms and begin to recognise the tremendous courage and resilience of the human spirit to cope with life's experiences.

Mr Peter Trask

Psychologist
Since 2009, in both private practice, and in public health, I have worked continuously with individuals who have been survivors of abuse in institutional care. These people have suffered as their trauma includes sexual, physical and psychological abuse. This work was in Bendigo and in the Wimmera / Mallee region in country Victoria. In my Bendigo practice, I received numerous referrals from the Open Place organisation based in Melbourne, between 2009 and 2018.
In July 2018, I have relocated to the Sunshine Coast QLD, and just recently set up a private practice at Mooloolaba. I am no accepting new referrals and no waiting period applies. For those with a mental health care plan from their GP, I am able to bulk bill as appropriate. Presently, I have no waiting list and so can see clients within days. I also provide after hours and Saturday appointments by arrangement.
In addition to treating survivors of institutional care, I have also work with many police, emergency workers, soldiers and others, who have been affected by trauma and confronting life experiences in their workplaces. Furthermore, there has also been other individuals affected by trauma, including family members dealing with suicide of a loved one, people dealing with bullying, victims of crime, and more.
My training in trauma has included attendance at many workshops, MHPN webinars, reading and further study and training related to how the brain is effected by trauma, but developmentally, and for adults. I am also a member of the APS 'Trauma and Psychology' Interest Group, so I keep an eye out for further training and seminars as they become available, as well as often discuss trauma topics in my regular supervision sessions.
My office is a private place where safety and privacy are ensured and valued. In any case, my therapeutic style is gentle, calm and respectful and accordingly, most of my trauma clients both improve and value the work they do with me.
Finally, my treatment methods are tailored to meet the needs and consent of my client. Exposure work and systematic desensitization will be used, if and when a client is ready to do so. Otherwise, my work would include a combination of narrative therapy, psychoeducation, mindfulness, meditation, imagery and hypnosis (when safe to do so), some CBT and more preferably, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Mr Ravi Iyer

Counsellor
I am a trauma informed counsellor with over 10 years experience. I am located a short walk from Parliament and Melbourne Central Train Stations.

I have undertaken extensive training in both Psychoanalysis and Family Therapy. Psychoanalysis is uniquely suited to treating trauma by working with the unconscious. Key features of trauma become locked in the unconscious, surfacing in disturbing and distressing ways. Effective treatment means first establishing safety, trust and rapport. I can help give voice to your unconscious experience, ensuring that trauma is resolved and your sense of self is restored. With Indian and Italian heritage, I am uniquely placed to understand cultural issues. I am registered to accept referrals from BlueKnot.

The first session with me is free. We can then expect to spend a number of sessions understanding what brings to to my practice, and building a trusting relationship. Without trust and safety, there is no possibility of undertaking meaningful work. Please visit my website for more information.

Mrs Samantha Spencer

Social Worker
My name is Sam Spencer. I have been working with people experiencing issues with mental ill health, addictions and trauma both in the UK and Australia for over 20 years. My approach is person centred and recovery focused and I believe building trust, safety and honesty within the therapeutic relationship promotes healing for those who have been let down in these areas in the past.
I offer counselling for individuals, couples and families in an office/small clinic environment. I am trained in many modalities of therapy and prefer to discuss treatment options at the first session so people have informed choice and control about their treatment. I work in a multi disciplinary practice which enables choice if the person seeking counselling feels I am not the right fit.
Counselling appointments last an hour and wait times are usually no longer than a week. Medicare rebates are sometimes applicable with a GP referral or people can choose to self fund their treatment.
Treatment often starts with developing and understanding what strategies work well for managing difficult emotions and thoughts. This ensures I know how to support each individual and create a safe space if they were to become overwhelmed at anytime. Trauma affects everyone differently, it is important to look for what is not being said, what is too overwhelming to share and not judge or presume but to hold the space and make it safe.
Survivors of trauma deserve to receieve the best treatment and whatever support they feel they need. All survivors are strong and courageous and have overcome many obstacles in their lives. I undertake professional development annually, monitor progress of those I am working with and promote a collaboartive approach encouraging honest feedback during sessions to increase satisfaction in the treatment journey.
My aim is to help each individual to reach their own goals and best outcomes.
