Professional Biography
For nearly 20 years I have worked in private psychotherapy practice with women who have suffered deep wounding due to early childhood emotional neglect and complex trauma.
For many of the women I have worked with, this has manifested in chronic low self worth and food, weight and body image concerns. My work in this field stemmed from my own early childhood trauma and subsequent addiction and eating disorder recovery.
I work from a transpersonal trauma perspective which means that I hold a holistic, soulful, positive and hopeful context for recovery and post-traumatic growth.
Alongside my private practice, my work experience includes working at Women’s Health NSW; the umbrella organisation for Leichardt Women’s Health Centre, Sydney Women’s Counselling, Waminda Aboriginal Health Centre and Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia (formerly Rape Crisis NSW), Riverglen Mental Health Unit and several inpatient and outpatient treatment centres for addiction, anxiety, depression and eating disorders.
Over the last 20 years I have trained extensively in developmental psychology, attachment theory, neuroscience, women's psychology and trauma informed practice.
Because I work from a relational and attachment perspective using the therapeutic relationship - the therapy is usually medium to long-term as we recover the split off and dissociated parts that had to go into hiding. Therapy is often weekly but some clients choose to come more than once a week.
My practice is from a home office in a very safe, quiet and leafy street.
I regularly participate in clinical supervision and postgraduate training, workshops and conferences for professional, personal and spiritual development. I am committed to my own self-care and the psychological safety and well-being of the women I work with.
