Counsellor
I walk alongside people on journeys of healing, justice, insight and change.

Caring and skilled support can lighten the load of trauma on body, mind, emotions and spirit. The way forward is different for everyone. Unravelling and making sense of past experiences can be very healing for some people. For others, talking about trauma can feel too daunting - we can do helpful work together without needing to go into all the details, including learning practical skills to sooth distress.

I am trained in a variety of therapies which is supportive for responding to the different circumstances, preferences and hopes of each person. My approach is collaborative and respectful and appreciates the political, social and cultural contexts of people’s lives. I value social justice principles and guidance from Aboriginal mentors.

People consult with me about wide-ranging concerns such as:
• disclosing, responding to and recovering from trauma
• engaging in redress with institutions
• sustaining resilience whilst advocating for justice
• facing significant life challenges
• recovering from burnout and vicarious trauma

I also support service providers working with trauma survivors with training, supervision and debriefing.:
• leadership teams and staff implementing redress programs for institutional abuse
• lawyers and community advocates
• staff working with Aboriginal communities
• health professionals

Examples of previous roles include manager of a national trauma helpline and counselling team, counsellor for a women’s centre with primarily Aboriginal clients, and trainer for a torture and trauma service.

Qualifications include Master of Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy, Master of Education, Graduate Diploma in Communication Management, Diploma of Somatic Psychotherapy, Certificate IV Telephone Counselling Skills, Meditation Facilitator’s Certificate, and Diploma of Energetic Healing. I am currently completing a Master of Narrative Therapy and Community Work.

I am registered as a clinical member with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
