Dr Leah Pischek-Simpson

Psychologist
I am a registered Clinical Psychologist working in private practice. I completed a clinical doctorate at Griffith University which is a seven year program. I have been working in private practice for eight years treating adolescents, adults and older persons. I have extensive experience in working with those with complex mental health difficulties, particularly complex trauma, adult survivors of child sexual abuse, post-traumatic stress, chronic pain, dementia, psychosis, grief and loss, adult ADHD, relationship difficulties as well as men's and women's health issues.\

My approach to therapy is not to just treat the symptoms but consider the underlying difficulties that maintain one's suffering. Patients often present with stress, depression and anxiety, however, my goal is to look below the surface and determine what is driving these symptoms. I use a number of strategies including techniques from schema therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behaviour therapy.

Ms Margot Edwards

Occupational Therapist
Over 20 years experience in Mental Health. Margot is particularly interested in the mind/body relationship and is certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma and Attachment, and completed Level 2 Internal Family Systems. These approaches work from a 'bottom up' perspective focusing on where trauma plays out - through physical symptoms and emotional dysregulation and are therapies recommended by the Blue Knot foundation. A great advantage of body focused therapies is that there is no need for the event/s to be re-told, which can be both distressing and re-traumatising.
Additional training includes: EFT (tapping), Art Therapy, DBT, Workshops with Janina Fisher (Overcoming Trauma-related Shame and Self Loathing) and Bessel van de Kolk and workshops with Blue Knot.
Margot has worked in both In-patient and Community Mental Health and has a thorough understanding of how these institutions can impact on patients and become traumatic themselves. She has been in private practise as a psychotherapist for the last 5 years.

As a Mental Health Accredited Occupational Therapist, Margot is eligible for Medicare rebates for focused psychological therapies with a Mental Health Care Plan.

Mr Michael Green

Psychologist
I am a psychotherapist and clinical psychologist who works with individuals engaging with the aftermath of trauma, experiencing relationship difficulties and navigating life transitions. My primary trainings are clinical psychology, psychoanalysis, somatic (body-centred) psychology, Jungian psychology, emotion-focussed therapy, and the intersections between western and eastern views of the psyche. I also teach meditation and am a registered yoga teacher.

I have experience in a range of settings over many years. In addition to my clinical work I established a national journal for psychotherapists and counsellors; managed a low fee clinic which provided long term psychoanalytic psychotherapy to several hundred patients over a period of approximately 10 years; and conducted clinic based research into the therapeutic experience of patients who have experienced complex trauma. I have presented the results of this research in both Australia and Europe. In 2022 I established an holistic healing and yoga centre in Abbotsford and currently divide my practice between that setting and a practise in Elwood.
