Mrs Karen Reid
Psychologist
I am a Clinical Psychologist specialising in Trauma. My theoretical approach is based on the standard three phases of trauma therapy using the framework of EMDR therapy. I also interweave ACT, CBT and Schema therapy. This area of focus has been a particular interest for the last three years. An extension of this work is working with Complex trauma using IFS (Internal family Systems) and includes working with dissociative states / experiences and addictions. My focus is the empowerment of the client to draw on their own inner wisdom and resources to become fully engaged with life in the way that they choose to be.

Ms Kate Lithgow
Social Worker
Director and Accredited Mental Health Social Worker / Counsellor with Enhance Wellbeing Counselling with over 25 years experience in counselling, youth work and mental health social work in the public, private and not for profit sectors. Offering trauma focussed therapy utilising strengths based positive approaches along with an integrated framework of focussed psychological strategies such as solution focussed psychotherapy, trauma focussed CBT, and mindfulness; relaxation techniques and psychoeducation.
I am a big believer that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor to successful outcomes for survivors of trauma, the role of the therapist is not to judge or to categorize (label) someone but to understand that person as an individual, so that he or she feels seen, heard and understood. A good therapist has a deep interest in their client as an individual and will see and relate to them in ways that are sensitively tailored to the person’s specific needs. There is no one proven method of therapy – no one-size-fits-all approach to treatment, because no one person is like the other and as such, having an integrative approach to therapy is important as we gently unravel the story, carefully reveal the pain of trauma and bring healing into the arena in a tailored and collaborative approach.

Dr Julie-May Brown
Psychologist
Dr Julie-may Brown is an EMDR Accredited Clinical Psychologist. Julie-may has been working with trauma since 2009 and is regarded within Australia and New Zealand as a master EMDR clinician and consultant. Julie-may's extensive experience includes treating chronic and complex childhood sexual abuse, working with Forgotten Australians, and victims of abuse in Institutional Care. Julie-may is a solution focused clinician with an orientation towards 'Best Practice' and clinically informed treatment. When working with Julie-may, you can be assured you will receive evidence based treatment, in a respectful, safe and supportive environment. Julie-may fully respects that engaging with treatment can be scary and challenging, however, living with unresolved trauma is even more challenging! EMDR is not talk therapy! It does not require the retelling of your story, unless of course you would like to do so.
Best practice treatment for trauma is Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). This internationally acknowledged treatment includes targeting unprocessed distressing memories, and processing them to adaptive resolution, whereby they age appropriately, no longer intrude into your awareness, and subsequently cause less distress and interference in your daily functioning.
For additional information regarding services, including EMDR, please refer to to my website, click on the Resource Page, and watch a short Youtube Video - All About EMDR.

Mrs Kaye Griffin
Counsellor
I have a focus within my work on trauma, crisis, addictions, eating disorders, obesity, grief and loss (including adoption, foster care, and bereavement) and work with all presenting issues and symptoms that arise within the client work.
My philosophy is to work together with each client to assist them to achieve their desired goals in a calm, safe and positive way. Underlying issues often play a significant role in what and how we feel. I use a combination of Psychotherapy, Brainspotting™, Animal Assisted Therapy, Ego States and Parts Therapy (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing - EMDR, Trauma Informed Therapy, Brain Based Therapies, Somatic Trauma Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy including Drumming and Hypnotherapy to assist in identifying and working with any underlying issues.
I work in an integrative way that empowers and supports adaptive coping skills that see individuals as not only capable of surviving but thriving through celebrating resilience and self compassion and empathy for self and others. The neurobiological psychotherapies that I am trained in and use do not rely on talk therapy and allow individuals to enter into their healing work without the need to tell their story or their trauma history.
My therapy approach is underpinned by a Trauma Informed Framework and I use advanced neurobiological psychotherapies (Brainspotting, EMDR, Somatic Trauma Therapy) that integrate and combine with talk therapies, expressive therapies, body centred - somatic psychotherapy and trauma specific and trauma informed therapies to support clients to make meaning in a way that allows healing and promotes living a more pleasant life.
I am passionate about professional development and I recognise that I am a training enthusiast by attending trainings, workshops and conferences within Australia and Internationally to ensure that my knowledge is consistently deepened and my skill set is fine-tuned and integrated. I undertake experiential learning in all areas that I am trained in as I consider it is important to have a personal experience of the intervention and therapy as a client before I work as a therapist in that method or modality.
Supervision is part of my professional requirements and I am also a Clinical Supervisor of therapists. I see supervision as more than being a part of my membership requirements it is about self care and professional development and ensuring that we are working to provide the best that we can to our clients.
I offer face to face, single sessions, intensive sessions, group healing work, and Skype or Zoom sessions.
I welcome client phone calls or emails and I am happy to answer your questions and explore if I am the right therapist for your needs. It is important to have a sense of trust, safety, to be heard, understood, and listened to - without the need or pressure to make an appointment.
Please call me - I welcome your call and look forward to being of assistance and service.
