Professional Biography

Have traumatic experiences affected your ability to experience joyous, healthy and safe relationships? I am committed to providing a safe space where relational wounds can be healed; this can be achieved in individual, couple or family therapy. I am a family and relationship counsellor who has many years experience of working with survivors of relational trauma, where experiences of abuse or neglect have affected relationships. I have recently completed my PhD at the Mindful Centre for Training and Research in Developmental Health; the University of Melbourne, where I developed and tested an intervention specifically developed for parents and adolescents, where a parent had a history of relational trauma and there were high levels of conflict in the parent-adolescent relationship. I use an integrative approach that draws on recommended guidelines for working with complex trauma, including mindfulness, dialectical behavioural therapy methods, somatic and expressive arts approaches within a relational, collaborative and strength-based framework. Counselling is available on a sliding scale for lower income earners, and for those who are able to able to attend daytime appointments.
