Professional Biography
I work in private practice with individuals impacted by unresolved trauma as a Contemporary Somatic Psychotherapist - registered with PACFA.
This means that together with you as the client, we work as a team to understand, illuminate and transform unresolved trauma that is held within the body's nervous system. Trauma when not resolved means we operate largely from a fight-flight or freeze state - a reactive rather than responsive state. Through deeply listening and attuning to the mind-body - my clients report to move to feeling safe, regulate emotions within a tolerable window and in a healthy manner. We move focus from reliving the past to being more at peace in the present.
I am trained in self-psychology/intersubjectivity and mindfulness.
My work is grounded in the latest research in neurobiology, trauma theory, developmental and attachment theory. I hold a Masters in Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy, a Diploma of Contemporary Somatic Psychotherapy, B.Sc. (Hons I in Biochemistry) and MBA.
As volunteered in the after-hours counselling program at ACON. Prior to becoming a counsellor/psychotherapist, I worked in the corporate world.
As a migrant I am curious about different cultures, and the impact of this on our sense of self.
