Professional Biography
Moniquea is a Somatic Psychotherapist who has worked in the field of mental health, addictions and trauma for over 15 years. She is a passionate social entrepreneur and visionary change maker. With a priority placed on establishing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship, Moniquea has a natural strength for creating new ways of doing things and helping others tap into the subtleties and wisdom of their body. After losing her father to suicide, Moniquea moved into the mental health sector, always keen to learn and explore, she began her own self-exploration into the links between unresolved trauma and mental ill health. Moniquea qualified in Somatic Psychotherapy in 2006 and completed a further 3-year training in Australia under the qualified team from the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute, founded by Dr Peter Levine. Having always believed that the mind and body are intrinsically connected to our overall health and well being she continues to expand her knowledge and practice in the body-mind space, taking a keen interest in early developmental phases and attachment theory as a way to resolving deeply held patterns and distress. After seeing a gap and need in the mental health sector for reform, she has established her own social enterprise and charity in establishing a therapeutic community for people affected by mental ill health and trauma, to reside, recover and repair. Moniquea sees clients in private practice on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula in Victoria.
