Professional Biography
Maureen Alsop, PhD is a registered psychologist. She graduated with a Bachelors of Arts (BA) degree with a dual major in Psychology and English at Michigan State University. She attended graduate school at Radford University earning a Masters of Science (MS) and Educational Specialist (EdS) degrees in psychology. She completed her doctorate (PhD) at James Cook University studying depression and anxiety and held a fellowship at the Australian Institute of Suicide Research and Prevention at Griffith University. She holds over twenty years of experience as psychologist working with both children and adults. She offers a client centred approach, is experienced in working with grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, stress, work place, career and interpersonal transitions across the lifespan. She applies a range of effective counselling methods in her session including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Mind-Body Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Expressive Therapy.
