Professional Biography

I started working in 1999 at the Women's Centre in Townsville as a sexual assault counsellor. At the end of that year I graduated with a bachelor of psychology with honours from James Cook University . I continued working at the Women's centre as a sexual assault counsellor and started my postgraduate degree in clinical psychology. During this time I was an on-call worker for women that had been sexually assaulted and during the day I would do face-to-face counselling for survivors of sexual assault.
In 2003 I left Townsville and returned to Rockhampton where I started working at the Aboriginal and Islander health service in Phillip Street Rockhampton. I worked with many women that were in domestic violence, women that were sexually assaulted or adult survivors of sexual assault and whose children had been sexually assaulted.
I left Queensland health in 2012 to start my own practice Tilly’s Yumba. Over the years I have dominantly worked with people and children in trauma. I am also working with men that have been traumatised with my work at Mimosa Creek which is the drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre in Woorabinda. I continue to work with forgotten Australians people that are already in the Redress system domestic violence and sexual assault survivors.
