Professional Biography

Ling has Caslick worked in private practice for 25 years. Ling’s main focus is adult therapy. She specializes in both individual and couples counselling.
Ling has a particular interest in helping people work through complex difficulties including working with survivors of child sexual abuse and other PTSD. She recognizes that when working with survivors of trauma, a safe and therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance to work towards healing. Often symptoms present as entrenched patterns and recurring themes in their life. These are often related to past events, particularly childhood experiences that continue to impact their lives, in areas such as mood, relationships, self-worth, and confidence. She believes in helping people to understand the issues that drive their patterns and assisting them to deal with them differently can bring meaningful and lasting change.

Ling’s therapy draws heavily on the Psychodynamic approach and Self Psychology. She is also strongly influenced by and trained in Schema Therapy. Other training she has completed which influences her therapy include, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Mindfulness. She has also trained in providing trauma-informed care to survivors of trauma and sexual abuse. She is skilled at adapting her therapeutic techniques to reflect each individual’s needs and goals for counselling.

Ling is highly regarded among her colleagues and clients as a skilled and caring therapist. She aims to offer depth and insight with a goal of lasting change. She is a warm and sensitive therapist who recognizes that the client/therapist relationship is essential for change and healing.
Ling's memberships include Fellow member of APS College of Counselling Psychologists, Australian Psychological Society and the Psychology Board of Australia where she is endorsed as a specialist in Counselling Psychology.
