Professional Biography

I am a Registered Psychologist and have worked in the specialised sexual assault service for the last 10 years using a whole range of person-centred counselling approaches to assist people who have experienced trauma. Assisting and witnessing survivors’ journey and strength through healing and empowerment is the most rewarding aspect of my role. Coming to see a sexual assault counsellor can be frightening for many people, which is why building a safe and trusting relationship with the counsellor is the most important part of the process. Counsellor can then assist the client to develop tools and strategies to manage difficult and painful emotions. To prevent emotional overwhelm, clients speak of the trauma only if they want to, when they have the right tools to and when they are ready. When clients choose to speak of the abuse, ten last minutes of the sessions are always left for grounding and assisting clients with the emotions which might be stirred during the session.
I have rooms in two counselling practices in Western Sydney, Constitution Hill and Windsor. I am a Medicare provider and have applied to become a Victims Services Counsellor. I am also aware of the services which can support clients between sessions.
Notes from the sessions are highly confidential and kept in a locked cabinet that no other person has access to.
One way of providing services my clients truly deserve is to keep updated with all the newest evidence based therapies and I am committed to this aspect of professional and personal growth.
