Professional Biography

Before becoming a counsellor I worked as an Occupational Therapist, I found this work rewarding but not personal enough to be satisfying and I have been working as a counsellor for Relationships Australia since 2017. Originally I worked in a branch and did some outreach to South Hedland and Northam but for the last 18 months I have been working with people affected by the Disability Royal Commission, most of this work has centered around abuse and trauma. My clients have taught me much humility and I hope I understand that each person affected by trauma has different needs and sensitivities. I try and put my clients first and listen to what they need and how much they want to say. I understand that trauma is about healing the past and also the present and that experiences of trauma plays out in our current relationships. I am a big advocate in the healing power of soothing the nervous system and I try and help my clients access this resource in therapy and so they have this as a strategy between sessions. My private practice space is a small cozy office in Ardross, sessions go for 1 hour and I have current availability to take on new clients.
