Professional Biography

A am a Clinical Social Worker with Accreditation as a Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW). I have a 20 year employment history in social work which includes 6 years in private practice providing therapeutic interventions to children, adolescents and adults. I have a medicare provider number and I hold a Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies through the Justice Resource Institute in Boston. In addition I have trained in evidenced based therapies considered best practice for the treatment of trauma and complex trauma. For example, EMDR, Imagery Rescripting and Somatic Experiencing. These are combined with focused psychological strategies as required by Medicare Australia. I am knowledgable of the symptoms and coping strategies frequently used by survivors of childhood sexual abuse. I hold a certificate in Cultural Competence from the Australian Indigenous Psychologists Association and a Working With Children check.
