Professional Biography

Jackie Burke is a fully registered trauma specialist psychologist with over 20 years of experience working with people who have been subjected to violence and/or abuse. Jackie uses an expanded trauma informed approach to assist recovery from trauma impacts including experiences of depression, anxiety, PTSD, complex trauma, eating disorders, dissociation, self-harming behaviours, substance use, and relationship difficulties.

Jackie has worked in metropolitan, regional and remote areas of both NSW and the NT. She has worked with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities in the north of Australia and northern NSW and works regularly with people of diverse cultural backgrounds including GL&B clients. Jackie previously directed national programs for people affected by sexual, domestic and family violence and now works in private practice in Crows Nest NSW. Jackie is an awarded researcher, and regularly provides advice about trauma, complex trauma, sexual, domestic and family violence to government and non government agencies.

Jackie works with a range of therapeutic approaches and is committed to understanding exactly what each client wishes to change and finding the best possible fit for them in terms of approaches.

Jackie sees clients at a clinic in Crows Nest. The clinic is easily accessed by public transport and free public parking is available close by.
