Professional Biography

I am a Mental Health Social Worker and Counsellor with over 25 years of experience working with adults, adolescents and children. I have a particular interest in working with people who have experienced traumatic and distressing events including childhood trauma and people living with PTSD. I also have a special interest in the area of addictions and have a number of years of experience working with clients struggling with drug and alcohol dependency.

My qualifications include a Masters in Counselling (Murdoch University), Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Social Work (La Trobe University) and a Bachelor of Social Work (Curtin University). I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers and a registered Medicare Provider.

It can often be a daunting experience to take that step towards counselling therefore it is important that you find someone you feel comfortable and safe with. I have worked with people from all walks of life and I always aim to provide a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship where clients can safely explore trauma related issues and symptoms as well as other difficulties you may be struggling with such as depression, anxiety or problematic alcohol or drug use. I personalise my counselling approach to the person's individual needs with the goal of working together to improve quality of life and relationships.

I use a range of counselling approaches including
• Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR),
• Schema Therapy,
• Mindfulness,
• Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)
• Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
You are welcome to call and have a chat with me prior to booking an appointment. I can answer any questions you may have about my counselling approach and how I work.
