Professional Biography
Welcome to Transitional Support, an organisation that provides counselling, careers advice and support services for people of all ages, as well as professional development, training and workshops for organisations and groups.
Transitional Support specialises in the processes and strategies that assist individuals, families and companies undergoing a transitional phase, and these include childhood to adolescence, education to employment, relationships, personal identity and organisational change. Our services also include bullying and online interactions, school and workplace-related stress, and behaviour management support.
Our philosophy is that throughout life people undergo phases of change, and it is normal for people to react to change with different emotional states. This response is not necessarily a reflection of mental illness or personality disorders but usually a combination of stressors and lack of strategies to cope. At Transitional Support, we assist clients in understanding the situation and equip them with a toolbox of strategies to both manage the outcome and their expectations.
Our clinic utilises an Integrative Therapy approach which draws upon various therapies including EMDR, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Mindfulness, Meditation, ACT, Solutions Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Person Centred, Family Systems and Sand Play. Through incorporating an Integrative counselling approach to our practices allows us to bring together different elements of specific therapies to best support the individual.
Integrative counselling maintains the idea that there are many ways in which human psychology can be explored and understood – no one theory holds the answer. All theories are considered to have value, even if their foundational principles contradict each other – hence the need to integrate them. Essentially, integrative Transitional Support counsellors are not only concerned with what works but why it works – tailoring therapy to their clients and not the client to the therapy.
At our Springwood practice, we offer a discrete oasis for our clients. Whether you require one on one counselling, group guidance and mediation or workplace workshops, we can tailor our services to meet your needs.
