Professional Biography
Thank you for reading my profile.
I am a Counsellor/ Psychotherapist at the Family Psychology Practice in Manly Vale. In terms of formal education, I have a Postgraduate degree in counselling and extra training in complex trauma. I am a Clinical member of PACFA (Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation of Australia).
The impact of traumatic experiences on our lives is unique to each of us. What I offer you is a safe space where you will be heard, respected and helped to feel at ease. To ensure your emotional safety, we will initially get to know each other and take time to learn skills that give you independence in calming anxiety/stress. My key aim is to support you to live a life that matches up with what is important to you. Our sessions will include a mixture of conversation and skill building to empower you to grow and heal.
I have extensive experience in helping my clients manage and recover from addictions (especially gambling disorder), anxiety and depression. Other specific client presentations I work with include domestic violence, family and relationship conflicts, and parenting challenges.
I think you will find that I have a warm approach and, at times, I bring in humour! I have a tool bag of methods I draw on that include ACT: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; Mindfulness; Cognitive Behavourial Therapy and Transactional Analysis. We can also try some yoga/movement and art if that is of interest to you.
