Professional Biography

I have been working with clients with a history of child sexual assault for over 30 years. I have provided training and supervision in this area to a number of government and non government agencies and individual professionals. My approach when working with survivors is to work collaboratively in identifying the issues survivors want to address in therapy and devevelop a plan for working towards the outcomes that the survivor wishes to achieve. I understand that many of the problems that bring survivors into therapy arise from strategies that have been essential in their earlier lives. However as adults, survivors are sometimes reevaluating how they are managing their lives and wanting to develop different ways of relating to themselves and others. I believe that developing a therapeutic relationship is essential to helping survivors and I understand that this takes time.
