Professional Biography
I am a clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience working with women and men across the life span who are experiencing a wide range of issues such as experiencing trauma related to adverse childhood experiences, domestic violence, victim of a crime and assault, depression, anxiety, low self-worth and grief. I help women and men heal from experiences of stress and trauma relating to loss, grief, past childhood trauma, domestic violence, victim of crime and assault, separation and divorce, medical procedures, and bullying. My approach to therapy is a trauma informed, non-judgmental, approach which focuses on increasing my patient’s control over their life and their mental health problems, increase their sense of worth, improve their quality of life and assist them to achieve their dreams, aspirations and goals. My therapy approach offers several benefits central to healing and recovery including learning skills on how to cope with anxiety, low moods, keep your mind and body calm in stressful triggering situations and improve sleep quality.
Over the course of my career, I have worked in health and community psychology settings including my own private practice and in academia as an A/Professor of Psychology.
I use a trauma-informed care approach to therapy which integrates from a range of evidence-based therapies including trauma informed Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (ti-CBT), trauma focused Compassion Focused Therapy (tf-CFT); Internal Family Systems Therapy, Somatic and Mindfulness Based Therapies, Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I hold a Doctor of Philosophy with a Master’s in Clinical Psychology.
