Ms. Helke Kuhnast

Psychologist
I have been working as a psychologist since 2005 and hold a Bachelor of Arts as well as Masters Degree in Psychology. My career experience includes working in community mental health, university counselling, work in various NGOs as well as private practice at the Birchtree Centre in Sydney. My particular interest lies in working with adult survivors of trauma, including people who have experienced childhood trauma (abuse and/or neglect), sexual or other assault(s) and domestic violence.

I have been trained in a number of therapy modalities including Self Psychology, CBT, Family Systems Therapy, DBT and EMDR. I use a trauma-informed, phased approach to therapy and integrate knowledge around the neurobiological and physiological impacts of trauma. Other approaches I draw on include Attachment Theory, Somatic Work, IFS and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.

I enjoy working with people of all ages, gender, sexual orientation and cultural background, supporting them in their journey to recovery and growth. I aim to build a safe, respectful and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship with my clients and my preference is to work collaboratively, providing choice and tailoring what works for a particular person. I continually participate in professional training and am engaged in regular clinical supervision.

Mr. Michiel Gonzales

Psychologist
Michiel is a registered psychologist and has extensive experience working in the mental health field with a variety of presentations. ‘I have learned that deep and lasting change is possible, that long-term issues can be resolved, and people can be free of emotional pain they carry by making sense of difficult experiences together, both past and present, and moving towards a place of self-understanding’. Michiel works with adults and adolescents using an integrative approach which is based on empathy and building a strong mutual respect and working relationship with clients.

Michiel’s approach to therapy is to help clients gain greater insight and awareness into their internal world and patterns of behaviour. He assists his clients in meeting their needs and goals by helping them effectively relate to themselves and other people. ‘With a look beyond just coping, I try to help people resolve the core emotional and relational causes of their anxiety and symptoms. Each one of my clients comes from a unique background and set of experiences, and I collaboratively tailor each therapeutic intervention to my client’s individual needs by drawing upon the following broad range of evidence-based therapeutic treatments: psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal therapy, schema therapy, acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), and CBT.

Ms. Sarah Milan

Counsellor
I have lived experience of complex trauma from childhood and adulthood and many years of being a client myself before training as a counsellor. I understand that trauma underlies many mental health presentations and know that unless this is treated there is no sustained improvement.

Having eventually found trauma therapy for myself and seen a great recovery, I became passionate about doing the same for others by combining the deep empathy that comes from lived experience with the best training in trauma therapy.

In my most recent role for the Supporting Recovery funded long term therapy therapy program, all my clients were victim survivors of complex trauma. I also counselled many clients with trauma in all the counselling jobs I have had including at SANE Australia.

I am very experienced in making referrals and working with other kinds of support providers as I have worked for several not for profit organisations. I have good knowledge of the kind of services that are available to help victim survivors of trauma whether that is psychiatry or practical support.

In my private work, I offer videocall and phone sessions for individuals over 18 only. I do an assessment during the first one to three sessions and ask your feedback on the treatment plan I have developed. My private fee is $137 for 50 minutes. I am eligible to become an approved Victim Services Counsellor in April 2026 which gives clients 22 funded sessions.

Ms. Lauren Eeles

Psychologist
I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience supporting adults through a wide range of psychological challenges, including trauma, life stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem difficulties, interpersonal issues, grief, and adjustment concerns. Based in Monbulk, my practice is grounded in a holistic and integrative approach tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

At the heart of my work is the understanding that true healing extends beyond psychological symptom management. I embrace a multi-disciplinary perspective that considers the broader context of a person’s life, experiences, and inner world. Integrative psychotherapy, as I practice it, is not just about addressing concerns—it is about deeply exploring one’s lived experience to foster self-awareness, resilience, and growth. Central to this process is the therapeutic relationship itself. I believe that meaningful change occurs within the space of deep listening, interpersonal reflection, and a strong working alliance between therapist and client. Through this collaborative journey, individuals can move toward a greater sense of wholeness, self-acceptance, and emotional well-being.

Ms. Cynthia Dunn

Psychologist
I am a registered psychologist and certified EMDR therapist and member of EMDRAA. Over the last 15 years, I have provided trauma-informed support to clients throughout Queensland with complex and developmental trauma, PTSD, substance use issues, depression and anxiety, grief and loss, personality and dissociative disorders, and eating, somatic and sleep disorders.

I’m based in Queensland’s Southeast and worked through covid, in both Cairns and Brisbane, starting Artemis Psychology Services in early 2020. Although I predominately work online, I see clients in person and travel to Cairns regularly. I prefer a casual and friendly approach to help you feel as comfortable as possible. I work with men, women and youth, 16 & over. I have worked for DV Connect, 1800RESPECT, Living Well and other specialist sexual assault services throughout Qld.

My approach is authentic, curious, and objective. I’m upfront, believing that it is important for us both to be able to speak our truth, in a respectful and gentle way. My role, as your therapist, is to challenge you to challenge yourself and mentor you to successfully navigate towards your goals.

I’m open, honest and transparent. I see therapy as a two-way street; it’s like a therapeutic dance that we engage in together. Therapy is about connecting with oneself while being safely guided by another. Therapy represents the push-pull of connection, trust, and attunement between us both.

I am currently accepting new clients. No bulk-billing but reduced fees can be negotiated for people in genuine financial distress.
