Counsellor
Nerine is a counsellor, psychotherapist and yoga instructor who is deeply committed to helping others enhance their lives by nurturing mental and physical health with particular focus on complex trauma and related conditions.

With an approachable, warm and caring personality, Nerine creates a safe and supportive environment for her clients’ development. She specialises in interpersonal psychodynamic psychotherapy, also known as the Conversational Model, which blends knowledge from neurobiology, developmental psychology, attachment theory, linguistics, and self-psychology. The Conversational Model has been specifically developed and researched for over 30 years to treat complex trauma and disorders of self and adopts the three phase approach recommended for trauma informed practice safety and stabilisation, processing, and integration.

Nerine has a bachelor’s degree in Applied Social Science (Counselling) as well as a Master’s degree of Science in Medicine (Psychotherapy) at the University of Sydney - affiliated with the Westmead Psychotherapy Program of Complex Traumatic Disorders. Her training and experience grant her Clinical Registration with The Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) - Clinical Reg. 22503 - and she is also eligible for registration with The Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists (ANZAP).

Nerine has been teaching yoga for 6 years and has extensive experience in the mental health services working at several psychiatric hospitals and rehabs in Australia and Asia. She continues to develop her professional skills in all modalities to ensure her ongoing therapeutic efficacy. Additionally, in August 2018 she is undertaking training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitising Reprocessing) recently acknowledged by the World Health Organisation as one of the frontline treatments for trauma.
